Beryl Produces Over 2 Million Power Outages in Houston, TX: How to Survive without Power

I am a survivor of the Tropical Storm Beryl and the subsequent power outage which resulted in total darkness for just shy of a week. Some residents are still in the dark. On the day of the storm Beryl, Center Point Energy reported over 2 Million Houston residents were without power. And you can believe with 100-degree temperatures it was almost unbearable heat and very dark without lights in the entire city. There was no way to cool off with ceiling fans or air conditioning nor was there any way to preserve food in the refrig and freezer because we could not find any ice at local gas stations. thankfully we had filled our tank with gas before the storm because there were long lines around the gas stations all over the city. Our source of light was the sun and at night candlelight. In fact, the whole region was in the dark, and boy was it hot. We tried to sleep for 2 nights without A/C, which was nearly impossible.
